Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Hi Folks, I recently wrote in my ezine about taking risks and why we really don't take risks! Most every time it comes down to the FEAR of doing it! Recently on several occasions people have told me about things that they have done to overcome their fears. One friend told of her adventure to jump out of a perfectly good airplane with the Golden Eagles just to get over her fear of heights! A client told me about overcoming the fear of flying by becoming a pilot and overcoming the fear of what I call "the briny deep" (oceans) by becoming a master sailor. Most of us get caught in fear at one time or another. But I think that one of the most important questions to ask here is, "Does this fear immobilize me? Keep me from moving forward to accomplish . . . . ?" How do you answer that question? Do you allow yourself to get immobilized? Do you realize you have a choice about it? Well, you do! The first thing to accomplish is awareness - being aware that you are in fear! Acknowledgment is the first step to getting anything accomplished. The second thing is to acknowledge what causes your fear! I am afraid to move forward because . . . . The third thing is to be at choice about this fear - will you choose to confront and overcome as my friends have? Or will you choose to continue to let it hold you firm/immobilezed? Will you choose to seek assistance to move out of fear because you just may not know what or how to do? The answer is always up to you! You are at choice at every moment of the day. What is your choice today? As always, I welcome your comments. Margaret
